What a Leak Score looks like
This site tells Google Ads that 15 different things are conversions. One of them fires on every page load, three fire on a button click, and logins and free trials that end count as conversions in Google Ads and GA4. If any of those are primary in Google Ads, Smart Bidding is paid to find visitors and returning users, not new customers. The fix takes days, not months.
15 Google Ads conversions (1 with a value) · 11 GA4 key events · containers: GTM-••••, G-••••
1 Google Ads conversion fires on every page load. Smart Bidding reads each visit as a conversion and buys more visits, not customers.
Ads label LxmXCO… in GTM-••••: All Pages
2 conversions fire on login. Returning users get counted as new conversions.
Ads label frCXCN… in GTM-••••: event loginsuccess GA4 key event: login_success
2 conversions fire when a trial ends. That's churn risk, not progress, and bidding learns from it.
Ads label _O4fCP… in GTM-••••: event freeTrialEnded GA4 key event: Web_FreeTrialEnd
3 Google Ads conversions fire on a button or link click. A click is intent, not a signup or a sale.
Ads label iDOYCN… in GTM-••••: event gtm.click, click on 'Start your free trial' Ads label iDOYCN… in GTM-••••: event gtm.click, click on 'Try it free' Ads label AR0OCK… in GTM-••••: event gtm.click, click on 'Book a Demo' Ads label AR0OCK… in GTM-••••: event gtm.click, click on 'Book a call' Ads label ghojCM… in GTM-••••: event gtm.linkClick
15 Google Ads conversions are live. Past about 8, bidding spreads across steps that don't make money.
15 distinct Ads conversion labels (15 tags) in GTM-••••, G-••••
GA4 marks 11 key events. Two look like the same trial start and two like the same signup.
purchase, invitee_meeting_scheduled, free_report_requested, Web_FreeTrialEnd, Web_FreeTrialStart, Web_PaymentSuccess, free_trial_started, login_success, signup_success, book_seat_cta_click, Web_SignupVerified
Signup, booked meeting and payment are all tracked. The real conversions exist; they are buried under the noise.
Primary vs secondary status of Ads conversions isn't visible from outside. A conversion set to secondary doesn't drive bidding.

What we would fix first
- 01Today: set the every-page conversion to secondary in Google Ads, then move its GTM tag to the real success event. This alone stops bidding from buying visits. How
- 02Take login and trial-end out of Google Ads conversions and GA4 key events. Keep them as plain events for reporting.
- 03Replace the three click conversions with what the click leads to: form submitted, meeting booked, trial started.
- 04Cut 15 actions to three primaries: verified signup, booked meeting, payment with its value. Merge the duplicate GA4 key events. Why three
- 05Send qualified leads back from the CRM so bidding learns which signups become customers. How
We do all five in 5 working days.
